Sorry, I haven't posted in a few days, but well...no excuse. I found a great site that I was able to discover 10 great ways of recycling. O, and I saw Super Bad tonight... awesome movie. I suggest it to everyone.

My 10 Favorite Recycling Ideas
1) Have a bunch of old records that are to scratched to play but the memories are to good to just pitch them? Heres an idea: Take a piece of 1 by 2 and with small wood screws Screw down 3 albums. Now fire up your trusty glue gun and layer on some old 45's now when you are down turn your creation over and attach a picture hanger on the back you now have a free form sculpture for your wall.
2) Does the umbrella for your picnic set keep blowing away in the wind? Try this quick solution. Take one 5 gallon bucket saved from your laundry detergent or last painting spree, A short piece of PVC pipe that the end of your umbrella will fit into, and about a 1/4 of a bag of cement. Mix the cement up and pour into the bucket while your spouse or kids hold the piece of pipe firmly upright and against the bottom of the bucket. In about 3 minutes the cement should have set up enough the pipe will not move. Let dry for a least 3 days. I grantee your umbrella won't be leaving you again.
3) I had a old tall dresser than my kids broke the runners for the drawers beyond repair, after getting them a new dresser I tried to figure out what I could do with the old one, I need some place for them to keep there toys in the family room so I removed all the old drawer slides and put in some shelves then I used some plywood and made to doors that I attached with hinges. I painted the whole thing brown and stenciled strawberries over it. It made a great toy chest. I plan on using it for a blanket chest when the kids are done with it. A friend did the same sort of thing with the solid wood cabinet from a console TV and another woman convert an old gun cabinet into a curio cabinet the same way.
4) When my kids were small they were quite the artists so I took a 2 by 3 foot piece of finished plywood (leftover from a project) got some spray on Chalkboard Paint and made them an out door chalk board that hung on our fence. It was also great for printing out menus for family backyard gatherings. I also added some left over molding and painted with some exterior paint. It last for years and needless to say the kids loved it. This paint also could be used for revitalizing old chalkboards.
5) We recycle old paperback books by arranging a book swap, Everyone makes up a list of their books for the swap and then we swap like mad.
6) Clean blankets and throw rugs can be recycled at your local animal shelter as can your old airline carriers and some cages.
7) Got a bunch of baskets collecting dust? These can be recycled into storage in the bathroom or kitchen. They also can be gussied up with ribbons and last and used to hold gifts for family or friends or you can make them into Easter baskets and take them to your local woman's shelter or to the local nursing home.
8) Old wooden beaded car seat covers can be cut apart and the beads can be used for a beaded Christmas garland, too many beads and you cant use them all donate them to your local kindergarten class, the teacher will love you.
9) Large pourable cat food containers can be washed out with bleach and then used for flour and sugar.
10) Old game pieces from monopoly or scrabble can be used to decorate picture frames or pots for houseplants. Laminate monopoly cards for cute and cheap coasters.
